INVITATION: Celebration Event and Artist Roundtable
In celebration of their current exhibition, “Out of the Frame: Salish Printmaking,” Legacy Art Gallery is inviting you to an exciting afternoon event.
Moderated by curator, Dr. Andrea Walsh, eight Coast Salish artists will participate in a roundtable discussion on the role that printmaking has had in their practices, and the new creative directions printmaking is taking them. Featuring pieces by Charles Elliott, Doug LaFortune, Angela Marston, Andy Everson, Maynard Johnny Jr., lessLIE, Chris Paul, and Dylan Thomas, “Out of the Frame” has focused on challenging the ideas about printmaking by bringing the process of printing into relation with cultural traditions, personal experiences, and the material world.
Other exciting features of this event include a guest talk by University of New Mexico Art History scholar, India Rael Young, entitled “The Visual Vernacular in a World of Prints”; a celebratory performance by the Tzinquaw Dancers; and food and light refreshments offered to the attending public.
