Artist/Curatorial Statement
Summer Catch is a fun design of an eagle preying on salmon. I incorporated the salmon design inside that of the eagle’s wing which looks like a hand catching a salmon.
I chose to paint the whole image in red and black except for the eagle’s eyeball that I painted white. I was inspired to do so while playing softball in the summer time. The softball term, catch, and my enjoyment of the game and summer time lead me to play on words and to title this piece Summer Catch.
