Carver’s Helper

Serigraph: Ink on Paper

Artist/Curatorial Statement

It is said that the red shafted flicker is a very spiritually strong creature. As a spirit helper, the bird would help a person become a great carver or builder.

The owl symbolizes the knowledge passed down through generations and also holds the teachings we are to learn. The salmon represents our ancestors and everything within our culture.

All these symbols are held very sacred by our nation, so I have placed them inside a bentwood box image.
