Victoria Collects: The Salish Weave Collection
“The Salish Weave Collection, as part of the Victoria Collects exhibition, demonstrated that a passion for local indigenous art can translate beyond amassing and decorating to sharing and educating. Focused exclusively on works by contemporary Coast Salish artists, the objective of this collection is to see this unique art, with its distinct and traditional forms, recognized and appreciated worldwide in a similar way as other Northwest Coast art. Artworks from the Salish Weave Collection have been lent and donated far and wide to promote to a broader audience for the work of artists such as Susan Point, lessLIE and John Marston.”
Mary Jo Hughes, Chief Curator, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria
Victoria Collects: The Salish Weave Collection was the first ever exhibition dedicated to the Salish Weave Collection.
