Exhibitions
Since 2007, when the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria held Transporters: Contemporary Salish Art, Salish Weave has participated in exhibitions to raise awareness of this indigenous art form of Southern British Columbia and the Northern Washington and Oregon States. Some exhibitions were dedicated to works of the Salish Weave Collection, including a touring exhibition, Record, (Re)create: Contemporary Coast Salish Art from the Salish Weave Collection.
Over 10 years, in addition to five exhibitions in collaboration with the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Salish Weave participated in exhibitions of the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Legacy Art Galleries at the University of Victoria, the Tacoma Art Museum, and the Burnaby Art Gallery.
In 2017, works of the Salish Weave Collection donated to the National Gallery of Canada were part of the gallery’s fourth edition of the Canadian Biennial. The contemporary Salish works of art presented in this exhibition were a living testament of the vibrant Salish culture.
